Paulding Exempted Village Schools Schedule Change 2024-2025

Paulding Exempted Village Schools received a Statewide Professional Development Grant last summer, which allowed our District Leadership Team (DLT) to be trained in multiple areas to promote school improvement in our buildings.  This is a two-year process, which started with the 2023-24 school year and will continue through the 2024-25 school year.  These trainings include topics such as Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), working as teams, analyzing data and more topics to improve student learning in our school district.  As the year of training unfolded and the DLT became more familiar with the processes involved, it became apparent that we needed to have a dedicated time set aside for our administration and staff members to meet together in order to utilize all that we had learned to promote improved student learning, at the grade level and across grade levels.  The DLT had multiple discussions to determine how this dedicated time could be feasible in our current school schedule and calendar.  It was determined that an adjustment to our school schedule would be needed, which led to discussions with our school board.

At our July Board of Education Meeting on July 23, the PEVS School Board plans to adopt a change in our school schedule for the 2024-25 school year.  That adjustment will be a two-hour delay for students every Wednesday starting on September 4, 2024 through May 14, 2025.  This weekly delay will be used for Panther Professional Learning (PPL), which will give our administration and staff members a common time across the district to provide professional development and data analysis; as well as, time for staff to meet as grade-level and subject-level teams to address and plan for specific student needs and interventions.  We do realize and understand that this is a significant change and will cause some inconvenience in regard to child care, transportation, etc.  But we feel it is an important step in promoting improvement in our school district as it pertains to student achievement and overall school culture.

Every Wednesday, from September 4, 2024 through May 14, 2025, school will start at 10:00 for students attending school at PEVS’s Oakwood and Paulding campuses. Our 4-day preschool program will operate on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. PEVS students attending the Paulding County Opportunity Center will also be on a two-hour delay, however, those attending Vantage Vocational School and Divine Mercy School will start school at the normal time on Wednesdays.  There will be more information with details sent out to Vantage and Divine Mercy students in the coming weeks regarding Wednesday mornings next year.

If you have any questions regarding PPL, please do not hesitate to call Mr. Etzler at 419-399-4656 ext. 1510 or email him at

New Vape "Pens"

Attention, parents and guardians.

We wanted to make you all aware of the new vape pens going around schools. It is an actual pen that works as a pen should but also has a vape cartridge to inhale. Some highlighters and Sharpies do the same thing.

We have attached a picture of the pens for your reference.
